Ecole des Sciences Saint Louis De Montfort is a Catholic school and Government aided. It is located in Butare Diocese, in Southern Province, Nyanza District, Kristu-Umwami Parish. It started by Butare Diocese in 1965 and since then, it has been excellent in Discipline – Work and Success as our motto highlights it.
We educate to promote knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in young generations in line with Rwandan Education Policies and prepare a bright future for our country. We believe firstly in God’s power in everything we do (Mathew 6:33) and We build our education on the core values of Catholic schools including being excellent in all that we do. The school identity promotes children's physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth.
The school has Ordinary Level and four science combinations in Advanced Level: Associate Nursing Program(ANP), Mathematics - Chemistry and Biology (MCB), Physics - Chemistry and Biology (PCB), and Physics - Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). All levels perform excellently in National Examinations.

ESCLM NYANZA is an excellent school in Rwanda with 31 employees in both teaching and non-teaching staff; 21 teachers, and 10 staff (the cleaners and kitchen employees not included). ESCLMNYANZA has enough qualified teachers and there is a very good collaboration between teaching and non-teaching staff, furthermore, teaching and learning activities are well directed by the headteacher in charge of studies.

Ishuri ryatangiye muri 1965. Ryatangijwe na Diyoseze Gatorika ya Butare. Icyo gihe yari iyobowe na Nyiricyubahiro Musenyeri Jean Baptiste GAHAMANYI. Amazu ryatangiriyemo yari amashuri ya Gatikisimu yari yarubatswe n’ Umwami MUTARA III RUDAHIGWA. Icyo gihe rero Diyoseze ya Butare yari ifite umushinga wo kubaka ishuri ryisumbuye ryafasha abakrisutu bomugace ka Gikongoro. Ryatangiye ari ikiciro rusange icyo gihe ryitwaga “Collège Inférieur de Nyanza”.
Uwariyoboye bwa mbere ni Umupadiri wo mu muryango w’ Abapadiri Bera (Missionaire d’ Afrique) witwaga Père Etienne Levi. Yari avuye mu iseminari i Kansi (Save) aho yigishaga Geometrie.
Mu 1967-1968 niho ikigo cyagiye mu maboko y’ Afurere ba Mutagatifu Gaburiyeri. Umufurere wambere wariyoboye yitwaga, Furere Arthur Miron.
Muri 1968-1969 ishuri ryahinduye izina ryitwa Collège des Humantés Modernes de Nyanza. Ryahise ritangiza icyiciro cya kabiri cy’ amashuri yisumbuye. Hatangiye ishami ry’ imibare na siyanse.
Iri shami ryatangiranye n’ abanyeshuri 35 barangiza ari 16 muri 1971. Usibye kwigisha, ryateje imbere imikino n’ umuziki kurwego rwo hejuru. Ibi bigaragazwa no kuba ikipe y’ ishuri yarageraga kure mu marushanwa ya basiketi yo ku rwego rw’ igihugu. Nanone ishuri ryari rifite Orukesitere ikomeye ifite ibikoresho byose bya muzika.
Mu 1982 ishuri ryahinduriwe izina Collège des humanités Modernes de Nyanza ryitwa Ecole des Sciences de Nyanza. Mu mwaka w’ i 2000 ishuri ryaragijwe Mutagatifu Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort; Umupadiri wo mugihugu cy’ Ubufaransa akanaba ariwe washinze umuryango w’ Abafurere ba Mutagatifu Gabriel, rihita ryitwa “Ecole des Sciences Saint Louis de Montfort Nyanza”. Ari naryo zina ryishuri kugeza ubu.
